Alyssa Beza is a ceramic artist and instructor born in Upstate New York and currently lives and works in New York City. She graduated from The State University of New York at Oswego with a BFA in Drawing and Painting with concentration in Ceramics and an MAT in K-12 Art Education. She taught K-12 art for 7 years before becoming a nanny and art instructor for kids. In addition to her art practice she currently teaches Wheel-Throwing and Hand-building classes in her studio space in Greenpoint Brooklyn and at Yaro Studios.
Alyssa Beza's functional sculptures explore tension and balance between forms, playfully uncovering subconscious thought, through use of non-representational shapes. Her forms aim to embody the concept that ideas are living beings that want to emerge into existence.
